    Hello,

I have a question regarding being under 18 while using adsense.

Well, First off, I am 17 years old, I have a bank account under my name.

Now, it says to give social security number, If I am under 18 and give it, Will they verify it for age, or just that I am a U.S. Citizen?

Also, I am able th cash in checks at my bank, I have done several from rebates, to webhosting, to gaming, etc.

So, Should I sign up under my own name and do you think they really will care? I know they put the age just for law reasons, so I was just wondering if I should just register under my own name.

    Thanks for your input! :)

You have to be 18 years old to sign-up for Adsense. Just talk to your parents and let them know what you intend to do. That way, you can sign-up using one of their names and SSNs.

Or just spend a year building up content. On your 18th birthday sign up for adsense yourself.

    Thanks for your input guys.

I will probably just ask my brother, since he does adsense and is a webmaster, etc. already.

I have pretty much all content build up on many sites, that is why I wanted to launch..

But what if I just do this.
I hold the money in the adsense account, and once I turn 18, I take the 'hold' off and get the cash?

If you are 17, then you most likely have a joint bank account with your parents, correct?

If you have a joint bank account, then have adsense go to that account under your parents name and SSN.

I do agree on this answer. I think it's the best way. Otherwise you have to wait till you are 18

Try to join adsense and put earnings on hold. See what happens. I don't think you're going to be banned for life for that, most probably nothing will happen and from your 18, which will happen soon enough, you'll withdraw the money.

Google will verify your Tax ID number with the SS office. They probably send the form electronically and it verifies your address, name, age, and SS#.

Using your brother's adsense account would be difficult too since he wouldn't be able to restrict getting paid just your portion of the Adsense earnings. Regardless of if you do it under your parents or your brother, they will accrue additional tax liability off your earnings.

Probably the most legal way to do this is to setup a LLC (can be done pretty cheaply and online in some states) with you and your parents owning shares, apply for an EIN - employee identification number - from the IRS, and register for your Adsense account using your LLC and EIN number.

A possible outcome is that google would keep all your money you earned as a minor and then when you're 18 start paying you.

Actually, that probably wouldn't happen. They'll probably jsut deny you until you're 18. Get someone else's SSN (relative's, don't jack one. lol)

Nothing like starting out with a little "black mark" already. OP...17? How long until 18? If they would hold your money until you're 18, that means they know you're underage...if they know that, they ain't going to accept the application in the first place.

I think it is better to open your account on your parents name when you turn into 18 then apply with your name.

Its better that you wait till you're eighteen...but I signed up for adsense while I was 17, and now I'm not underage anymore and have no problems :) though i did lie about my birthdate in my adsense application.

I haven't recieved any checks while I was underage though...

I've got a question about these "just join and put your earnings on hold until you turn 18 suggestions" TOS states PARTICIPATION IN THE PROGRAM, not collecting your check. How does putting your earnings on hold make anything more "legal" If you're going to go against TOS and join when you're under 18, you may as well go all out and collect the money, too.

Adpubster, As I stated this issue is solved.

I am sure you did something against a TOS, I am sure TONS of people have, so yeah.

    Mods can lock this.
