    Hi,

I'm 14 and I will be running a new pet website soon for pet care, games, forum and even a store if possible. My question is there any payment proccessing options that a 14 year old could sign up for. I have a Visa Electron card and even a pre-paid Maestro card, is there anything?

    Thanks. :)

If you have a VISA card, I guess you could sign-up with Paypal and get a verified account.

Is there any age restrictions at Paypal??

I'm not quite sure. I checked Nochex and they have a age restriction to 16 which I know is only 2 years away but long time wait for my site.

You could probably have a well-established site by then :p
How about getting an account with your brother's or parents' name with their permission? :)

That is a good idea but the slight problem is I'm basically the only one who has the debit cards so the bill payer/card owner needs to be my name. But if I can put their name as the account holder then that would be perfect. Do you know any good merchant account sites accept paypal. I would like to give the oppurtunity to customers to buy straight through the their credit or debit card. :)

Most everyone is going to have a minimum age of 18. I'm surprised that there are ones under 18 at all.

I also would ask a parent / relative / sibling that is 18 to open one for you. Obviously, make sure you trust them a lot. Then you can tie your bank account and debit card to the account, and they will have pretty much no further involvement in it.

Yes - you have to be 18 years of age to use Paypal. User Agreement
A lot of people do not read these, especially their Acceptable Use Policy.

What you might consider doing is talking to your parents and ask them to get the account for you.

It depends on what you are selling and your market. Chances are Paypal (an IPSP - Internet Payment Service Provider) will be good enough. 2CO is another IPSP which basically resells your services and products through their merchant account.

A merchant account - in your location - will cost some money to set up, but you can check out Barclay's and maybe the electronic payment Protx for some help if you need a merchant account.

Forgot to mention I'm in the UK so they will need to support international sales. :) I know paypal does. I will try that since I read that the user doesn't need an account no more to buy things, is that true?

It matters more where you - the merchant - is located. Most gateways and transaction processors are capable of handling credit cards from most of the world (depending on your set up (fraud, etc).
