Hello, To keep things simple and basic ill try not too go into too much detail Basically i am under 18 years of age currently 17 and i do have a PayPal account and i have done so for numerous years, i believe i was 14 when i first setup my PayPal account. Over the years i have used my account for numerous things selling buying etc. I then about a year ago registered my Debit card under my account in which in them became Verified and a premier account. Obviously i have been aware you need to be 18 to have an account, nothing seemed to stop me though seeing as my card even was authenticated with my under 18 bank account. The problem i have is the fact my account now has negative balance of just over £30 which i am unable to pay at the current moment in time, the simple reason being i study at college almost every hour of the week. Paypal started sending me emails during the time my negative balance was made, followed by numerous letters from my bank informing me paypal are attempting to make a direct debit without any funds in my account. Recently about 3 weeks later ive heard nothing no emails, no phone calls nothing, the negative balance still remains. What are my options, will this go further, what can i expect? And if so is it possible to actually write off this negative balance seeing as i am under the age of 18 and my card and everything was actually verified via paypal with my under 18 bank account. (Santander) I would appreciate any advice Thanks
Well they can withdraw without your perimition if you have negative amount. I dont think they will go any further for now. But better pay that negative amount. As far for the under 18 thing i dont really know.. Did you lie for your age? i mean on the registering form
Well there's nothing for them to withdraw, so i wish them good luck :L i believe so yes, obviously im not the only one of many who have done so. Surely they should have adopted some sort of verification system during the paypal verify process of adding a bank account? How could they not notice im using a Visa Electron and on an under 18 bank account? For those of you who talk 'Law' i believe so im not sure if im correct, someone correct me if im wrong please , but its not legal for a company to hold a debt to your name whilst your under 18, because there's no contracts? Is this correct? would this be the case where im concerned? (Talking United Kingdom Based)
Well you can look on their legal documents and you might have right... I dont really remember what they say about something like your case. But i know that they can send some papper law to your bank and find you ... But they will not do that for only 30 but as i told you you better pay that amount... Maybe after 6 months but do it And may i ask to tell me again how you got negative amount? ( no problem if you dont answer )
Nothing to panic. Your negative balance is not a high value. PayPal will not recover it from you and only limit your account for this....
You have been a customer of Paypal from long and above all a verified premier business user. For a balance like this, the maximum paypal can do is send you e mails or try for a direct debit as you already have a debit card connected. After a certain number of tries, even that will have to stop which seems to be the case now. As such this cannot go anyfurther which includes finding you, coming over to your place and suing you. nothing of that is going to happen. However, this is not right ethically, and if you wish to continue with paypal from the same paypal account, it is highly advised that u maintain a good bank account history as they have all the reocrds. Choice is yours.
Depends where you live, if USA/CA, then they will put out calls for the balance in about 90 days from the date it happened. If you don't pay, it will SEVERELY affect your credit score. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
