As long as you link it to a valid debit/credit card and bank account, all is good. Why not ask your mum to link it to her bank account, and then when you withdraw money ask her to pay you back?

Well I'm goin 16 in May as well and have a paypal account. I'm living in Indonesia (i kno. home to scammers and what not which is actually quite good since I can ask someone to forge a credit card statement for $75. didn't do it but if i hav prob i'll prolly hav 2 do dat..) but a foreigner though.

Anyway, I linked my paypal to my bank account and got myself a VCC (illegal really but have to resort to doing that since my debit card dusn't work with paypal for some reason.. stupid banks). I still haven't got big money out of paypal yet tho so I'm not sure whats gna happen in the future but I guess there's no problem for setting up domains and hosting though as I'm doing it myself too.

Anyway, best of luck and please don't do these stuffz dat I'm doing. It ain't good...

If you want to be straight and clean then the only option for you is to ask parent to signup to paypal for you and have them link his/her bank account or credit card to verify it.

    Just as I thought. Thanks.

Debit card not linking to PayPal doesn't seem good. Probably going to have to do what Dragunov suggested above, or just stick with free services for the time being.

I also discovered a prepaid visa card in australia called canvas, and it looks like that might do the job. I will probably ring there customer service and ask.

lol or we started in high school and have been out for 4 years now :D

Best thing to do is talk your mum or dad into making the PayPal account, make sure you do anything you can to convince them, give them the password, do extra chores, whatever.

Create a bank account that is in both your and your mum or dads name (that way they can monitor it if they choose) and get a debit card so you can verify. Make sure your parents know you won't be using it to buy amazon.com's complete stock, just what you need for hosting, and if you limit what is in the paypal/bank accounts, they may just go for it :D

Good luck, let us know what the end result is.

im well under 18 and have owned various domains, websites etc & there is nothing going wrong for me, not even a hint that i shouldnt be doing what im doing, as long as you keep to your promises & services then your no different to someone that is 28.

Alright guys this is my game plan; Get my mum to open an account in her name just for hosting/domains and other small costs then get a debit card for that account and link it to paypal to verify. That way I have the online funds separated from other money so I can only spend what is in the account. And because the account is in her name, I am making an AdSense account with her as the payee, so I can cash my checks with the account as well.

where do you live? in my country I don't even need credit card to create a domain+hosting. If you can't do it, you should ask your friend or maybe your older brother, since you don't want to inform it to your parents.

You only have to be 13 to own a domain and operate a website, at least in the US. :) (And the US pretty much does regulate and operate the Internet in most legalities, so being that you are from Australia, you should be in the clear.)

As for PayPal, I registered my PayPal account 4 years ago when I was 14 using my brother's birth-date "accidentally". ;) So...you really could register a PayPal account.

There are also virtual credit cards and prepaid credit cards that you can buy online and offline to verify your PayPal account. I, for one, used my savings account that was co-signed under my mom's name at the time to verify my PayPal account, and since then have done over 200+ successful transactions. :)

I like PayPal, for the most part...well, at least until people scam me and their accounts are closed or found to have my money already withdrawn...currently PayPal owes me over $300 from fraud. :(

Thanks for the help guys, but I have pretty much solved the problem. I already had an old bank account linked to my mum's account, so I'm going to use that with a credit card to verify.
