    I was seeing on BBC, there are chances that this was caused by Industrial waste produced by the Industries in the area. Decrease in Salinity is caused beacuase of the heavy monsoons.
    But Sweet water instead of Khara pani(Salty water), Its a miracle.

    that's quite gross..even if the water was desalinized, I would never drink it for numerous reasons...it still contains sewage, dead sea animals (due to hypersalinization), waste, and who knows what.

    I don't what's going on there but,

    There are places in the ocean where sea water is not salty. These places exist in all the major oceans. Deep sea fishermen know about these places and utilize them as drinking water when they are there for months at a time.
