Was checking my account and saw the warning about unauthorized sites displaying ads using my adsense ID. Got a bit worried for a sec, until I found out that all the IP addresses listed are from Google, different data centers. I have no idea why G would report themselves since they know what is going on; should I list Google.com as an authorized site then? Any drawbacks of not doing it or it just doesn't matter? Thanks.
I think this happens when someone is veiwing your site through googles cache. I would like some clearification on this also.
I wouldn't worry about seeing Google in there. If for some strange reason there ever is a problem, it shouldn't take more than one maybe two emails for Google to rectify the situation. Probably wouldn't hurt to shoot them an email now with the question, even if they don't reply it will be somthing good to point out if somthing did happen.
Viewing cached pages sounds like a good reason for this; hope someone who knows for sure can chime in. I will email Adsense later today - if nobody can confirm before then. Never hurt to ask right?
Ok, found a rather lengthy discussion of this topic on another webmaster forum. Yes, these "unauthorized sites" are from Google datacenters and they are harmless. I simply added google.com to my allowed sites, just in case someone might click a couple ads on the cached pages Others may want to add regional google sites or even individual centers, but I didn't bother.
