I have transacted with a guy last Dec. 22 which sent me 120usd. Later did I found out that it was from a credit card (it is personal payment but it still has a fee) and that account was really not his. I said so because the real owner called me and told me that his account was hacked and he will dispute the transaction that we did. What happened was that I have 50 usd in my account (I have withdrawn the 120usd held) and now I am on a -70usd balance. I responded to paypal from proofs and notes so I am just waiting for their decision (even if I really don't like to wait anymore). That being said, I chatted with the account owner (the real one) to ask if I could just use my personal funds from my bank account and refund him the payment. Unfortunately, they refused. They said I should just wait for Paypal's decision. Well, I don't want to wait anymore, really, so I am thinking of calling Paypal tomorrow to have the funds reversed. So now my question is, am I going to do the right thing? Or can I just make another Paypal account with the same name and IP to avoid being charged?Any help would be deeply appreciated. This problem is really getting into my nerves these days. Thanks!
it's okay, don't open a new paypal account with the same name it will only get you more trouble your paypal balance will remain negative (-$70) but your account will work as usual the only drawback is that you have to pay for the negative balance, meaning each time someone send you money it will be used to cover the balance until it reaches zero again
What if I open an account under my husband's name but at the same IP? Will it be advisable? What will happen to my first account if I do so?
So I guess the best thing that I can do is to pay? Will I call paypal to reverse the fund at once or should I just wait until this dispute is resolved?
just wait until it's resolved, this is a common problem it'd be best to keep this account rather than create a new one
Okay. Thanks for all your replies. Just one last question, if I call Paypal, will it change anything?
