Unauthorised Advertising

    Hi Everybody,
    I have received this mail from someone and a call also asking for $100 AUD per post.
    While no one from my team has submitted anything on this web site , they have themselves fetched our article from net and trying to fool us...
    Pls help what is this ? is there anyone who has received any mail or call of such type

    Dear Madam.

    I have included the link to the posting made on our web site today by your company.

    Comercial postings are billed to the company being promoted at a rate of $100 AUD per post.

    This post will be removed in 4 hours time.

    If the post, or any other post appearing for your company appears without authorisation then we will be obliged to bill you for the advertising.

    That is scam. Just ignore them. Make them remove that post and send them to hell.

    I have never seen anything like this before. I think they are trying to get you just to pay up. Keep us posted if they do anything to your site.

    it's just kind of scam, so no one can offer this much amount for only one posting.

    Do not by any forsaken chance give them any money. Ask them to remove to remove the article. You can even threaten them with copyright theft. Defend yourself as best you can but do not give them anything.

    Questions:

    1. Was the original article written for the purposes of SEO ?

    2. Was the article not in compliance with the original articles site it was posted on or was it against the TOS of the site the article was originally placed on ?

    If the answer to both questions is yes, then expect to see this happen alot more. There is a fine line between SEO and Spamming. If you place an article with commercial links on a site which does not authorise such in it's TOS and then another syndicating site pulls the article then you are legally liable.

    Expect this to happen alot more. It's not a scam, it's a fight back against scumbag SEO spammers.
    If you do SEO wear a white hat, not a black one!
