Unable to set the WWW Prefix - Redirect Loop Error

    Hi -
I have a problem with a couple of domains on my reseller account.
I am unable to set the www prefix. The domains appear to be configured exactly the same as the others that I host(all of which are correctly configured to default to the www version) - but when I try to set the URL using .htacccess to use the www prefix I get a redirect loop error.

Without the htaccess - when I enter the domain name with the www it resolves to the non-www version. I've no idea where to go to correct this.

    My hosting account uses Plesk.

I hope a knowledgeable soul can help me :)

There is a setting in plesk. When first set up a domain, there is a check box for www right before you enter the domain name. Did you put a check in that box?

If you are try to rewrite a non www URL to www. using .htaccess the plesk parent .htaccess is already rewriting www to non www so you will get a redirect loop error.

Problem I have run into is how to change that back to www afterwards. I had to remove the domain and set it up again. Since I could not find an option to check that box after I set up the domain initially.

In fact the issue is with the dns settings. you need to have a CNAME record.
you can fix this through the plesk
