When searching for directories to submit to using allsorts of variations in my search on msn ive found that i cant get beyond page 26 of the results, although it will say that there are a million or more results. Is there any reason for this or a way to search beyond page 26 of the results? when i say i cant go beyond page 26, i dont meant that its the last page showing, it will show links to pages 27, 28 etc but clicking past just returns the last pages results. While i understand that many people dont go much further than a few pages deep after searching, i tend to search as far as it will take me in order to find new Web Directories to submit to.
analyize your backlinks, and compare them to the top competitors backlinks; make sure you keywords are in your title, and in bold on the page, (not in the first paragraph, though) and run webceo (free) to suggest optimization. I did this and get page 1 results from some very competitive keywords.
Although search engines will show you millions of hits, they generally limit you to a max of 1000 listings. Is this what you are seeing?
This is a bit strange. At first, I thought it was merely an instance like Google, where they do not show a bunch of duplicated or non-relevant results: Doing a keyword search on MSN for "female celebrities" brings up 5M results but it will not go past page 25 without explaination even though the "next" goes up to page 29 .... Goolge let me go to page 44.
It's not a bug, it's a feature. They've just designed it that way because they don't think people really use the results past that far. I think I remember them commenting on it in their search engine blog somewhere.
carmen, yeah, basically im seeing millions of results but limited by how far i can go Thanks wrmineo and kneukm03 for replying too, it seems there is no way of getting past a certain number of pages, while i would love to be able to, i can understand them having this limit as i realise many searchers will only usually go a few pages deep.
I think that limiting the search results saves valuable bandwidth. Also, if the person searching can't find what they are looking for in the first 20 (or so) pages of results, then maybe more relevant keywords or phrases should be searched. That statement obviously would be from a SE's point of view.
