    make sure you upload all of the plugin file.
    see the readme.txt plugin file, maybe there is a file need to set the write permission.
    and dont forget to check, is the plugin you want to install is fit with your joomla version.

    I always use my web installer to install the plugin. The common problem is not enable the legacy plugin, plugin itself destructed.

    May we know that does it says and what is the plugin you talk about?
