Hi DP members, I am trying to help a mate out with his antivirus (well the board is doing most of it, thanks) he installed Avast Pro and now wants to revert to the home edition. His issue is that in the mean while he tried to remove Avast Pro rather than just do the convert. Now he has a file he can not remove. It's avast/ashoutxt.dll any help is appreciated.

Uninstall everything to do with Avast, and try again.
    or
Boot in safe mode and try to delete it.
    or
Look in Task Manager, and kill any process related to Avast, then try to delete the file.
    or
If that doesn't work, try Unlocker.

As Kerosene suggested, deleting it in the safe mode will remove the file...

Also make sure that no Avast process is running from the task manager...
