    Dear readers:

Was doing first time install of Apache/PHP/MySQL, and trying to follow directions of a setup procedure from the internet. Had put all my files in htdocs, but now am unable to change the httpd.conf file from within Windows 7 Wordpad. Specifically, would like to change Directoryindex line from "Directoryindex index.html' to "Directoryindex index.html index.php."
    Any help would be appreciated

You mean you cannot edit the file? Like it's read only? Have you tried using notepad instead?

I wouldn't edit anything in WordPad. Not sure if it adds carriage returns or anything funky. Stick with plain ol vanilla Notepad to be safe and make sure as chris mentioned that the file is editable.

What errors are you getting when you try to edit the file?
