    Un-indexing URLs from search Engines

    Hi all,
Am using sitemap in Robots.txt for indexing my blog posts. recently, i removed a chunk of posts from it and updated the site map. I want to un-index the urls that i have removed from the site. I need a clarification here.
    1. will updating sitemap take care of un indexing all urls?
    2. or do i need to specifically mention the urls in robot.txt to remove them?
if so, can anyone help me in removing all indexed URLs that leads to 404 page especially form google.

Webmaster Tools -> Your Site -> Optimisation -> Remove URLs.
Your urls will be deleted in several hours from Google index

You can remove the 404 urls by webmaster tool. You can block the pages by robots.txt file also.

Thanks all for your replies. URls got re-indexed based on my sitemap automatically. All 404 pages got un-indexed.
