There is an interesting story in the news about prisons in the UK. Apparently a good Islamist doesn't face or face away from mecca while defacating so some prisons in the UK are rotating their loos 90 degrees so I guess they will face the north pole and poop towards Paris or Lisbon. The story brings up a few interesting items: About 25% of the prison population is Muslim? I believe that's about ten times their percentage of the greater population. Why are these Muslims more prone to being in jail? They don't care about commiting crimes but they care which way they're facing when they are pitching a loaf. They want to practice the part of their religion covering the right way grow a tail but don't practice the "thou shalt not" parts that keep you out of jail. What if they rotate the loo 90 degrees but the logs flow towards Mecca after flushing, will Allah be OK with that? I say put the seats on a swivel so they can face whichever way they want. Any way here is the story: http://www.thesun.co.uk/article/0,,2-2006180300,00.html
The UK is destined to crumble in on itself. I got to get out of here before this crap gets even worse, can't take it anymore.
Very interesting observation and of course absolutely correct. It's not particularly easy to go to prison in the UK nowadays - you need to commit some very heinous crime. This seems to be a topical point of discussion recently and, whilst totally relevant, we don't want to get sucked in to a religious slanging match on here.
ya.great story and i agree with observation, why are being so prone to being in jail? worth knowing the answer
Also... how the hell do they know. Are muslims born with built in compasses - if so - we should be more worried about what other gizmos they have built in!
I am not a terrorist but a Muslim, but it's still easy for me to know which way a toilet faces if I want too. I see the sun rising from a window. I then walk down the hall to the toilet, keep in mind the turns I made, and now I know which way the toilet faces. The one in the office where I work points south.
Hang on, hang on... Surely if the toilet is a standard bowl shape, you can just turn YOURSELF 90 degrees left or right? Right?! Political Correctness gone mad. Religion and Politics go as well together as Lard and Cola.
Two questions: 1. Are you supposed be concerned about the direction of Mecca or east? East of London is Luxemborg, Warsaw, etc. 2. What consequences did Mohamed put on his followers for getting the directions wrong?
Hi, There is no evidence in Quran that instruct believers not to face or face away from Mecca while defecating. Muslims face Mecca during prayers as specified in Quran 2:150 "Wherever you go, you shall turn your face (during Salat) towards the Sacred Masjid; wherever you might be, you shall turn your faces (during Salat) towards it. Thus, the people will have no argument against you, except the transgressors among them. Do not fear them, and fear Me instead. I will then perfect My blessings upon you, that you may be guided." [Quran 2:150] Since Muslims respect Sacred Masjid, they found difficult to face Sacred Masjid while defecating. That's it. Note that Righteousness is not in turning the faces towards the East, West, South, North etc. Here is what Quran says; "Righteousness is NOT turning your faces towards the East or the West. Righteous are those who believe in GOD, the Last Day, the angels, the scripture, and the prophets; and they give the money, cheerfully, to the relatives, the orphans, the needy, the traveling alien, the beggars, and to free the slaves; and they observe the Salat and give the obligatory charity (Zakat); and they keep their word whenever they make a promise; and they steadfastly persevere in the face of persecution, hardship, and war. These are the truthful; these are the righteous. " [Quran 2:177] Regards, Ishaq.
AWWWW CRAP (no pun based on the nature of the thread intended). I was going back through and editing my post, and edited it incorrectly. I meant to say there "I am not a terrorist or a Muslim" When I came back to see my post quoted I couldn't believe it when I saw "but" in there. I'm not a Muslim, I'm a Christian. Oi. *Sighs* Sorry about that.
