I'm not rich, nor am I, in your terms, powerful. I'm very "far right". No, I'm not a fascist racist, because contrary to popular belief "far right" has nothing to do with social policies at all, rather economic. Take the political compass test, it's probably the most accurate measurement of politics there is, albeit not perfect itself.

I've mentioned before about the false "left-right" paradigm. There are two other "axises", if you will, which concern social and liberty issues.

There's no pride in being "average".

Australia is one of the most multicultural places in the world and this shit doesn't go on here. The problem is far more complex then immigration issues.

Well we do when it's whipped up by right winged shock jocks - a la Alan Jones & the Cronulla riots.

Cronulla riots were just a bunch of boguns that hate on wogs and don't really share the same view as most Australians. You can't really compare that to the UK riots.

Absolutely agree with them being a bunch of bogans that in no way represents the normal Aussie, but the theivery & looting going on over there showed that it's actually very similar to that. It's not as if the population has joined the protest over there and involved possibly 0.00000001% of the people. This riot was just their version of our 'bogan riots' imho.

Fair comment. The UK rioters look like chavs to me. All a bunch of scummy no hopers that will never achieve anything in their lives and have no respect for anyone because they can't respect themselves. There is no simple solution to this problem. These scum breed more scum and the viscous cycle continues.

QFT. These people complain that they have "no opportunities" in the UK, which is laughable (want "no opportunities"? try Somalia or Afghanistan). They whine that they have no money and are poor... yet for some reason they can afford $300 shoes and a $600 iPhone... hmmm... Some point out that they riot because "they have no jobs", well let me tell you, despite the poor economy, there are still jobs available in the UK for anyone who really wants one. But the issue is that these people are simply unemployable, period. When you can't read past a 3rd grade level, can only speak in ghetto slang, wear your pants around your ankles and have a criminal record that is 50 pages long... nobody will want to give you even the most menial jobs.

It's a shame he's a total dick though. His father was a Marxist lecturer, which says a lot.

Like all politicians, he's quick to jump on these issues to play the "good man" while he's the opposition leader until he becomes a cabinet minister.

BeirutMarketing, fully agree with you. Excellent point.

Dcristo, while many native chavs were rioters, the vast majority were gangster-wannabe blacks and foreigners. They should all be shipped out to a small island somewhere. Like we did with Australia, I kid, I kid. :D

A good idea would be to turn the army of scum into an army of community servicers.

The Cornulla race riots have little in common with the recent problems here.

The London riots are unfortunate. It is a matter of relief to hear the authorities have already controlled the situation. Hope that they will ensure the life and property of people those who are away from their home.

What do you mean "already"? It took them too long. They can't ensure anything. They are a complete failure and a sign of a spineless government and population, with the exception of those who stood up and were marginalised as "vigilantes".

The police show brutality to peaceful protesters yet when actually faced with a threat do very little.

I think I got it completely correct. Of course, YOU are wrong.
Gallop Poll - U.S. Political Ideology Stable With Conservatives Leading

    41% self-identifying as conservative,
    36% as moderate,
    21% as liberal

I'd say that leaning left is abnormal.

George Soros, Nancey Pelosi, Bernie Madoff, John Kerry, Robert Redford, John Doerr, Julian Robertson, Nicolas Berggruen, any powerful Hollywood producer - these are rich and extremely powerful liberals. Many of them are billionaires. Did you forget them?

Bushie, you have bought into the stereotype Hollywood story of the good, hardworking liberal poor and the cruel, right-wing rich. Reality is very much different. Once you get out into the world, you will learn when you see it for yourself.

I agree with the sentiments of that cartoon strip that a gigantically disproportionate attention and outrage has been given to the physical rioting rather than the insidious looting of the world's economy and financial system by white-collar terrorists.

Welcome martial law and an increased police force! Sounds to me like it's all been provoked. Also police complained that they were told to do nothing for the first 3 nights. Then Cameron comes back and solves the problem, while of coarse offering the nation some martial law including numerous of other things. Well thats it people things are now changing. Oh of coarse the first mention of us actually being policed by consent being mentioned on the news which i suppose doesn't matter now considering everything the government has showed us in the past week gives us the indication that emergency powers have been given. Which is the beginning of our dictatorship i would suppose.

I read about the stand down too. It's disgusting. I read an interesting snippet on wikipedia concerning the Cronulla riots:

Under California Penal Code, they would all be guilty of Felonys- Arest them all!

Those people carrying brooms all knew they could be used as weapons, likely making all of them felons.
