Hi All, I wondering if you can help. I’m working on a project, my first ïŠ and am trying to locate a database that will give me the corresponding longitude and latitude co-ordinates. I had seen there was a post discussion this previously http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?p=513351#post513351 with a solution being offered by Doctor Who. I have the same problem. I have the database file that gives me the postcode outfield e.g. EH12 or BL3, but not the infield e.g. EH12 7YG or BL3 4DF. Jabble.org still does not have the postcode file available and looking everywhere I’m stuffed. I can’t afford the Royal Mail charge as this is just a small start up. Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks Andy
i used the postcode information available at this site: http://www.easypeasy.com/guides/article.php?article=64 to build a proximity lookup by postcode. e.g. find all fish and chip shops within 30 miles of postcode ZXY. but it deals only with outcodes. i don't think there is anything free that is more precise than a mile or two.
Hi.. And big thanks for that. It is sadly however the file I have with outfield only. I'm sure there must be somewhere in the public domain this info as it is now being commonly used, especially with the Google Maps API, which is what I want it for. Maybe there is another solution or some translator that will work with Google, but ideally someone has the file they could email me. Thanks all for your help..
