We've been working on this site for about 3 months now and now getting close to being very happy with our end result (almost): uk poker buddies I value any feedback the esteemed DPers are able to offer - the site content etc. is quite different when you're registered (when compared with guest/logged out content) so if you do have the time to take a proper look, please register and have a play with all the features etc before letting us know what you think! Hmm, first thing that really strikes me is the poker chip background. I think you should lose that because it detracts from the rest of the considerably (especially since they are part bright-red). Also you need to specify the background image not to repeat because I can now see half of a poker chip on the right side of the site; it looks wrong The menu at the top should be changed so that it doesn't exactly match the horizontal menu underneath it except a bit more elongated. Have you tried perhaps having the options the same colour as your logo? It would fit so much more nicely into the feel of the website. Other than that, it it's a pretty decent design so far. I'm afraid I don't really have time to register and look at that part of the site at the moment but maybe sometime soon.
Hey scribbz, thanks for being so prompt with your feedback! Not sure I understand/agree with everthing you're saying but lets break it down and see where we ge... This is a tiled image (so needs to repeat) maybe it's because I've been looking at it for so long but it doesn't seem like a massive design error / faux pas to have half a chip sticking out on the right... Anyone else have an opinion on this? Not really sure what you are you saying... That the top nav should all be in the maroon colour (scrap the black)? and so would seperate it from the secondary black menu underneath? Re the menu: yeah exactly that, it looks out of place right now and may look more in place with it all being maroon Will seperate the sections of the site from the eyes-perspective (i.e. the user). Bright red always draws the eyes, and that means I am drawn to outside of your site..and probably away to another one therefore. Just a psychological thing for me, but sure, other opinions are definately welcome
Thanks dude, I think you do have 2 good points there... It's funny but when you look at something for so many hours you kinda forget what the fresh eyes notice (or don't!).. Will give this thread a bump when we've got some changes
