A report carried on BBC radio's Today programme stated that the UK online retail market was worth £5 billion ($9 billion) in 2005. This figure excludes music downloads and transactions on e-bay. Many of the UK's traditional retailers reported December online sales up between 40 and 70%, whilst sales through traditional outlets were flat.
Shhhhhhhhhh Products are usually more expensive too, making margins better. Though I didnt see that traditional sales were flat (in london they were ok) http://www.brc.org.uk/details04.asp?id=842
Ha, I can offer you a few tips as you are a bit of a newb when it comes to selling customers stuff huh
LOL! That's well worth trying. Back on topic: If UK e-tailing interests you, bookmark this and read it every week.
Electronic Retailing. Like you wouldn't say elektronische post, but e-mail. In Dutch I guess it would be (d)etailhandel.
I have asolution to the paypal issues from someone who regularly harasses companies. Send someone a £1 payment, then issue a chargeback/ dispute and a REAL PERSON has to deal with your problems, especially as PayPal are FSA regulated. Use them to get what you need done
Yeah but that wouldn't be someone from the Tech department. Might try it though! That reminds me: Did you hear that story of a Canadian who 'campaigned' against his bank's decision to store data in the US by paying off his credit card bills in micro payments - it took their servers down.
Ha, no, my bank (with the horse) shuts its internet banking between 12 and 4am everyday. But I did see an interesting off topic comment right here http://www.mattcutts.com/blog/government-requests-search-engine-records-google-says-no/ about data privacy.
Electronic sales rock! With the right products/setup/vision you can make a great living with a laptop from anywhere in the world.
Sorry guys I under reported the figure. The £5 billion ($9 billion) was just for 10 weeks. Annual value now £19.2 billion ($34 billion). Growing at 32% per annum.
