UK member should sign the below petition on the Prime Minister's web site to incentivize BT to upgrade their network to ultra fast fibre optics, rather than the current ADSL or future ADSL 2+ networks - Japan have it, why can't we?

    It's not mine, but I think it's a great cause. Sign :D

It would be fantastic if people would blog about this petition - it could make a massive difference I feel - the petition is well worth it in my opinion as I get about 1.5mbps (and that's on a good day!)

The current system is already creaking under the load. I don't think BT have much choice BUT to begin upgrading the system although they're probably trying to figure out a way to stiff all of their competitors before they do anything.

    Yep it certainly is creaking!

They are going to upgrade the network to what's called 21CN by 2011, but this will only have speeds of around 24mbps. Japan already enjoys speeds of up to 100mbps NOW, so we're being left behind really

I tend to stay away from BT's broadband and signed up with UW over at www.bills2big.com

BT's network certainly needs upgrading though.

Added my name too. Living in the sticks reduces my download speed to below a quarter of the advertised "potential".
