UK Link Alliance somehow got my number - don't know how but they are selling a link network. They seem to have up to 1000 sites 400 of them with PR4+. The idea seems to be that for £100 per month you get to be able to publish keyword optimised articles containing backlinks across their network. Initially they offered one article across 1000+ sites which of course is absolutely useless but they were willing to offer many articles over many sites. Although the PR of the page they showed me was 0 although they claimed it was a 5 - again not much use. Any one any experience with this company ( parent company www.itscoldoutside) Yours, Jim.
Thanks for your input, I've just been approached by this company offering one way back links, the links they showed me seemed to have some value between Pr4 and 5. They said that I could write the articles to ensure on topic content. There is a 1000 links though so either way this must have some value. Its well known that webmasters have no control over web sites linking to there site, so its not going to have a negative effect. P.s. nice link at bottom.
Just had a call.. was quite funny... "we'll give you a 1,000 links".. I said I don't want a 1,000 links all in 1 go thats a really crap idea.. Then the guy hung up on me.. I almost cryed.. lol hehehehe
Called me a few weeks ago and banged on about page rank and getting 1000 links, then when I asked the girl to give me an idea of their own rankings she got extremely touchy and said "We don't need to optimise our own site!" ... needless to say I hung up at this point.
Yep! good idea I would have probally said a few choice words and then hung up on her that was a scam in the making glad you didn't fall for it William
It sounds like too easy an option, doesn't it? Quick fixes are all well and fine, but building links isn't just about getting better positioning with Google - a well placed backlink will bring visitors to your site naturally and your content should attract backlinks on the basis of its quality. I can optimise a site and have decent hits from Google within a reasonable timeframe, and it's not so hard to achieve PR4 with a little bit of effort. I agree that it seems to be a scam, especially since they 'let' you write the articles to ensure keyword relevancy. That's kind of them!
Vermin in my book, like most telesales calls. If you need to cold call, you shouldn't be in this game. Simple as that.
... just had them on the phone. Told them I'd think about it and to call in a week. She said it wasn't worth it if it took me a week to make such an important decision. Another top quote ... 'the thing is, Google did their last crawl in March, so they'll probably be doing another one soon'. Hahahaa..... random phone calls asking for £500, but I'm a fool if I don't sign up on the spot? Nice.
These guys phone me about once a month, I've made a bit of a game out of trying to get them to hang up on me by asking awkward questions. it's fun, try it. They told me about a site they had worked on, and a link: search in google showed that google was ignoring all their links.
I just visited their own site www.itscoldoutside. com (Do not want to give them a link) and it is so badly optomised it is unbeleavable that they are selling an SEO service. A basic rule of thumb must be if you can not optomise your own site then you should not be offering the service to others.
Heh, this is a funny post. I wonder how they are getting the phone numbers? Sounds like an amateur group of people trying to scam.
They got my phone number from my listings with google Adwords so the clicked on my google adword costing me a click then rung me up to sell me something. I admit, I was tempted and have told them I want the service, £199 Plus VAT to start and £100 per month for 3 months and they guarantee me 500 links. I have now been sitting all night thinking about it and checked the forums to find out what others thought of the service. It is very interesting to see comments made here and I have changed my mind. Just checked their terms and it nowhere says anything about a cooling off period as I understand is required by law for any contract, also their terms state things like if i do not return the direct debit form to them in 5 days, they will cancel the agreement and keep all monies paid etc etc. They told me they will charge my debit card tomorrow so I have put a block on it so hopefully it will be declined... But here is a classic in their terms they sent by email... Available funds Please do not sign this contract unless you have immediate available funds. Itscoldoutside Limited accepts most major credit/debit cards. Are they saying that If i sign and agree and then do not pay them the £199 they will take me to court?? I do not trust a company that do not offer cooling off periods and threten to keep all monies for such a stupid reason than a delayed return of a direct debit madate. Was great to read comments in this thread and you have helped me make up my mind on this company..
