looking for advice or opinion Ok i'm trying to improve my site listing in google for the the search "uk classifieds" currently page 2 - google.co.uk, page 8 google.com Is it better to set the keywords as 'uk', 'classifieds' or leave it as 'uk classifieds' or is 'ukclassifieds' a better bet? {i.e. no space} Site is http://www.yellsell.co.uk many thanks
It would be best to mix it up a little bit to diversify your link profile, but still stick to the main theme: uk classifieds classifieds for the uk classifieds in the uk You also need to make some changes to your web site. 1) Fix the title tag, get rid of all that fancy junk. It should just be 'UK Classifieds | Free Ads in the UK' or something along those lines. 2) Add more content to your homepage relating to the keyphrase. Adding a paragraph about the web site ensuring that it makes use of the keyphrase 'UK Classifieds'. 3) Get rid of those hidden / masked links at the bottom of the page, you will end up with a penalty using such approaches. AND remove the pages they link to. 4) Change your copyright message so that the words 'UK Classifieds' are a link back to your homepage. This ensures every page on your site links back to the homepage with your target keyword.
You should have posted in the forum where the moderators have moved it to 'Search Engine Optimization'. The Google forum is not for questions about specific web sites.
so ok - i've had some very good results but now i'm a little confused using www.google.co.uk and searching "uk classifieds" site is listed 4th but using www.google.com site is listed 12th - so why the difference between the two? Also on the UK google my only competitor above my position is one website but they get three listings.. how is this possible? let me know your thoughts best regards
google.co.uk is uk specific and really where your site should be ranked. .com is worldwide. People in US probably don't really want to see uk classifieds
