UK-Cheapest.co.uk - Advice Needed

    Hi all.

I don't normally publicly slate a company, but in this instance I think I have to be completely honest. Their service is so poor I feel I have to warn people.

    I recently bought a .com & .co.uk and a hosting package from uk-cheapest.co.uk
After three days I still can't log in to start building the site. I didn't receive any email saying "Log in using this info..."
No info to tell me FTP settings, mail, control panel...

I followed the link from the temporary page on my domain to find a control panel log in but can't log in. I used the "forgot info" method and this is how I finally found my FTP, mail and control log in info!
But still, none of it actually works.

I've tried FTP using FileZilla, tried to log into their "Plesk" control panel, everything comes back as failed log in.

I sent them an email explaining the problems and they just sent back what looks like a form response telling me my own domain address (well duh!) and that I need to replace the default index with my own (no, really!?)

They completely ignored the fact that I CANNOT EVEN ACCESS ANYTHING!

Seriously, I am one step away from demanding a refund and starting again with another host.

Does anyone have any experience with Plesk or uk-cheapest?
I've got one day off work and I really don't want to waste it chasing them for an answer when I'm pretty sure I'm only going to get a fob-off email back.

    Any help appreciated.

Wow, that's very sad to know as I used to help promote that company. I dealt with the owner a lot of times and have never had any problems.

Maybe I've just been lucky with the simplicity of other hosting I use?
All of them set it up within an hour or two, and emailed me a direct link to my cPanel with my log in details.

I haven't had any of that with uk-cheapest.

I think I've managed to log in over FTP now, through trial and error of mixing the info I retrieved through the "forgot password" method.

    Really not happy though.

Um, no, that's not luck. That's how it's supposed to be. To have to wait days for basic information that would otherwise be sent to you within a few minutes is ridiculous.

    Hi,
    Conran!
I am also using uk-cheapest host and it's working fine for me. Well, I understand your frustration but i hope you have received a details about temporary login with after invoice receipt.
I was also afraid if i would really be able to use this hosting but what i did is to use that temporary login details for establish websites and i am still happen to use that same. Yeah, me too never received any details nor the customer support ever respond me besdies dropping me a review about their services. But the service is very good in cheap price those who are seeking UK hosting server.
Don't you have temporary details they might shoot you on your e-mail details. Try to use that maybe it can be helpful for you than seeking again another hosting.
Hope your problem will be solved.

Nope, not had any other details from them.
I sent them an email explaining that Plesk log in wasn't working, and that other links go to a dead end, and they replied stating two unrelated and obvious answers that were completely irrelevant to the problem.

Although I can now use FTP, I need to install Wordpress, and for that I need access to SQL.

I've sent them another email asking for them to resolve this today or issue a refund. But as the last email took 24 hours to respond, I'm not going to hold my breath.

Man, I really hate b!tching about companies publicly, but when their service is so bad you don't even get an adequate response what else do they expect?

We're all fed up about people bitching about company's too, but.....I understand your frustration here. Waiting 24 hours for a response to a service that isn't working for you, and not sending basic login details when your account is created is bad.

If your experience of their support is typical - and according to the other posts it seems to be - then I'd be moving elsewhere. Cheap prices are OK when you get what you need, but you're not getting the help you want so I'd move on.

You might be the first user of them and that could be really goood news for you as first users always get the best service

I don't think so. On so many levels. :p

I had a reply back that, again, did nothing to try to resolve the problem. They simply said they had sent me the information (they hadn't). No mention of why I couldn't log in using the information that I had to retrieve, no response to my request for a refund if they didn't sort it out.

Thankfully I paid using PayPal, so I've now lodged a dispute claim for a refund.

I really couldn't stress this enough, do not use uk-cheapest.co.uk, they are not the cheapest, and their customer service is the worst I have ever experienced. You send them a 500 word email explaining that you can't log in to use the service, giving every detail possible, and they'll send you a three line reply avoiding the problems completely.

And to show just how poor this service is, I bought another domain and hosting with ukcheaphosts.com - who I already use - and I had a working accessible site within 30 minutes. A couple of days ago I had an access issue with another site hosted with them (my IP was blocked because of a faulty wordpress plug in leaving a bad cookie) and they fixed it for me within an hour and the site was back up.

Thanks for the responses guys. I was starting to wonder if this was the norm or I was missing something obvious.
Hopefully they'll just refund me and I can get started on transferring the domain names I registered with them to another provider.
