??? I think you are missing the point. I don't think that the cartoons are OK, they are offensive and the person drawing them is obviously a jerk. But, that does not excuse the reaction of threatening others lives because they come from the same country now does it?
No it doesn't, and I never said that. But I despise all kinds of religous fundamentalism, and actually religion in general. I was just pointing out that there are double-standards, and if some Arabian newspaper would have done the same with Jesus, or even something anti-Judaist, there surely would be a reaction in the west and Israel s well, and not a very friendly one fore sure.
As you might know a lot of Muslims are angry over a cartoon . The cartoon was later reprinted by a Christian newspaper in Norway. Because of this the Danish and Norwegian governments have been under a lot of pressure from Islamic governments and terrorist groups. If the politicians backs down and apologize to the Muslims it would be the end of free speech as we know it in Europe, and it would be a great victory to the fundamentalists. I would encourage people to do the following: - Don't buy goods and services from Muslims. - Buy Danish products since Denmark is being boycotted by a large part of the Islamic world. - Blog about this and publish drawings of Muhammad. Prsonally I find the cartoon a bit of a bad taste, but this is a matter of free speech. Thank you.
ahem, going a bit far dont ya think? If that were to happen the western countries would be starved of oil!
If drinking Danish beer will help, I'm there.... Can you recommend something we would typically find "state side". 5, 4, 3, 2, ..... (il tempo fino a gworld rivela in questo filetto)
Just because you deny it, doesn't make it not true. You have as much access to Google as anyone. Realize, the blaspheme from musims doesn't make the mainstream media in the west because it's so commonplace it's not newsworthy anymore.
"Muslims" in general, or "Islamic Fundelmentalists"? Just curious. Are we now lobbing all Muslims together as a violent group that resorts to violence when provoked by a cartoon? Don't fret it man. The left in the US does not respect freedom and we seem to get by without violence. I agree, but again, are we talking about all "Muslims" as a group? Or just the nutty ones? I was under the impression there was a distinct difference.
True, but it is a bit disrespectful to do the same of the President of the United States, past or present. It is part of our culture though, as well as other nations culture. It's funny. Look at how Santa and Christ are protrayed in cartoons in "Playboy". Sure, there is a lot of "bad taste" out there, and many things that are "disrespectful" or offensive. But again, it's humor. It's funny. I do not like seeing our president protrayed as a Nazi, but I am not resorting to violence as a result. There are some things I do not like in the cartoons in "Playboy" (Subscriber since 88'), but I sure do laugh at them. Anyway, I think that picture looks more like a Drunk Russian, than Muhamad or whoever it is supposed to be. Who knows, maybe Muhamad is a drunk Russian... Oops... Now I have offended Russians.... I don't think there is anything here in these cartoons to get anyone's panties in a bunch over.
or posts the avatars you like and deal with the consequences - like when rob puts up his super-sized BC glasses picture up and scares me and makes me want to pop him one between the eyes hence removing them offensive things!
Come and visit with your Birth Control glasses - you are welcome anytime! LOL Seriously, take off the glasses and have a kid. I used to wear BC glasses in the army - their eye doctors were useless, they didn't correct my vision very well.
