    hello friends

I am making a new adsense website on Business Loans. Do u think it is worthwhile to put time in using fancy templates and flash. Or should i focus on more and more content.... i already have abut 25 artcles on that topic...

what do u think .... is it enough to give a plain menu ..(white background) and simply give every article with only a banner on the top ....

what i heard is that ugly websites earn more.... what do u think ? ? ?

    regards
    Aditya

Write until you have 50 nice articles and then focus on the template ;)

My experience with my sites is that ugliest site I have doesn't have very much visitors but over 20% ctr, another site with much more and much better content has more traffic (a lot of traffic comes from search engines) but very low ctr.

Thats because people find the ads more interesting then your content and they tend to move on asap, giving you some quick buck. It's human psychology, no rocket science. :)

Quite frankly, it's Adsense. No presell required. Just churn & burn.

The uglier, the better. It may sound crude, but once the user reaches the target site, it's likely to prove a breath of fresh air.. can't hurt conversion, good for smart pricing etc :)

    Cheers,

    JL

This is most likely because your site has low traffic. It is easy to have high CTR on low traffic sites because you only need a couple of clicks.

In my experience I had a so called "ugly site" that is performing better CTR & earnings than my "not so ugly sites".

But, if repeat visits is concern, my visitors most often re-visit my simple well presented sites.

Thats my point exactly, but in the end only thing that matters is the total earning. :)

I haven't experimented with ugly and adsense (unless-sniff- you think my pulsemed.org is ugly!)

But there is a saying in direct marketing that UGLY SELLS

so it may be more than just the your site sucks lemme out of here I'm clicking on an ad syndrome

I'm trying a garish color palette on my recently resurrected top ten search rankings blog- will let you know how it goes.

I think if you combine simple with ugly, maybe that would work?

There are a couple of very successful websites out there which are ugly: craigslist.org, plentoffish.com, myspace.com. Those are good examples of ugly sells. :)

I also have a site which i can call ugly.:) This site's CTR is highter than than what is expected.:D So yes, people come, they don't like the site, they run away by clicking on the ad. So small site, less traffic, high CTR.

If only it was true. My directories (not necessarily pretty) earn more than my blog (useful but damn ugly). However my blog gets the traffic, and the directories don't.

Ya. traffic is the main criteria.. but i think I can surely say that ugly sites get more CTR.
