I am working on a multipurpose Joomla template and in my boredom I want to make it ugly as the dickens. However at the same time. I want to optimize it for readibility. Check it out and tell me what color changes I can make. I am also interested in the proper line-height for my menus and text and fonts considerations. it can be found at www.quantumboredom.com
Just take brushes and do some random colors on a canvas, then use radical blur followed by motion blur.
unfortunately any type of graphics software is not my strong point. thats why i build ugly templates LOL
Do you think you can make it even more ugly ?? I don’t think so. lol Try alternative colors. Dark red/blue/green with white font. I bet, you will not open the site yourself.
Well my goal is to optimize it to be ugly but accessible....so i want to be able to read the words and fonts..... need a good repeating tie die background
Hmmm, actually a couple of those colours blend well together. You need to make it altogether more garish to get the world record ugliest template. And ugly needn't mean "no images". Just get some text and make sure you fail to anti-alias it, then make it bevelled and add a drop-shadow. Or have a really badly-done cut-out of an object, against a bright, clashing background. Being no good with graphics software is an asset, if you want to do ugly.
i should clarify...i would like for it to be done "correctly" Of course it should validate and be tableless (as much as Joomla will allow) I want the writing to be readable. I don't mind the colors blending and the contrast to be correct. My grand idea is to make it ugly optimized. Colors that don't look good beside one another but blend within the module. And I cool header graphic would be nice if anyone feels like doing any freebie work.
Its not hard to make joomla look ugly, now subdreamer, making that look ugly would be more of a challenge.
Oh dear.. the color schemes are everywhere... But the layout would look much better with an new header design
Try mixing colours . Like every link gets another colour. And make many stripes around, but still that you can see the text. Like every line of text gets another backround colour. It would be possible in html, but I have no idea about joomla.
Well done dude, great ugly layout , if there was an ugly competition this would be by far the ugliest site i seen, wouldnt be on it more than 3 seconds.
