All the publisher need to do is change the ad background to white.
#FFFFFF will do the trick :)

That would be exactly why I didnt turn them on. If they think thats attractive and will actually make people click more, then Google needs to fire their graphics designers.

i think in exchange for such shitty design they should give us a week where all the ads say "CLICK HERE! CLICK HERE! HOT TITTIES!!!!"

Wow. It's been way too long since I've been on here.

Is that something that Google is offering you when you create your code?

I have a lot of christmas pages (one example) but have yet to see any of these themed ads show up - kinda puzzling (?)

Update: Crack me up - so I clicked on the link in the post to make sure I had the URL right ... and NOW/FINALLY a themed ad shows up. Yea, these look like crap - changing Adsense settings now ... ;-)

they are pretty bad. I'd thought they would have taken on the same design as already on sites rather than going the 'blue' design. On my sites with red links and design they look terrible.

The only up side is I've noticed a higher CTR today. I'm not sure it's worth it though - while I like the idea of the background images the design they've got totally changes the vibe of the whole page that they're on and really cheapen things.

Come on Adsense - you always advise blending ads in and you do this!?!

Well... everyone seems to be complaining about how ugly the ads look... but you must admit that when you go to a page they sure catch your attention... I wonder if this will actually help CTR

Strange, for me the bg was changed to white automatically, when a Christmas ad is shown.

Another strange thing is, that the themed ads are not shown all the time but only every 3-4 pageviews it seems. Maybe this too will help the CTR... I'll leave them on and try them out for a day at least.
