I got an Assignment due in tomorrow and there's two questions I can't really find a good solid answer on.

Explain the meaning of xmlns and where it would be placed in an xhtml file?
It's placed under the Doctype I think, but I'm unsure why we use it and it's meaning?

Explain the meaning of MIME type file and what its purpose is.
I keep finding 'A method of encoding a file for delivery over the Internet' but i need something a little longer so i can learn about it and answer the question.

Link your sources if you do tell me about this stuff, help is greatly appreciated!

The xmlns is designed so that people can accept different incoming data from multiple sources, and know what each part is for.
xmlns is placed as an attribute in the html tag.

    No idea about mime.
