I prefer boxing..UFC is too brutal. Boxing has art in sport, we need strategy to defeat the opponent

I'd love to see a match between a world heavyweight boxe and a top notch UFC fighter to see how the boxer would deal with kicks/takedowns etc and whether the UFC fighter could avoid getting knocked out!

I prefer UFC. Perhaps it is more interesting to those of us who have taken MMA/BJJ training so that we are more attenuated to the little moves and holds that UFC fighters employ in their fights. I have been a fan of UFC since UFC 1 when the Gracie's dominated every weight class for years. I think it has suffered a little because of its fame and has slipped somewhat towards the outrageous showmanship that some complain about in professional wrestling- perhaps that is also why I would prefer collegiate wrestling over WWE.

Many people "in the know" like this consider MMA an art (just as much if not more so than some of you have suggested Boxing), and even go as far to compare each small move in the octagon as each small move in something as highly intellectual as a game of chess. One or two wrong moves and you will wind up checked, both as a chess piece and as the pawn on the receiving end of either a punch/kick or a submission hold. :)

I prefer boxing...UFC is has no art in fighting, it's more like street fight. Boxing is full of art and technique...

UFC is a lot more challenging in my opinion and takes a little bit more guts to pursue. The world's worst UFC fighter could probably win against the world's toughest boxer any day. UFC is a mix of MMA fighting and more practical techniques.

If it was a few years ago I would have said Boxing. But I have started to get into MMA more and its increasingly getting harder to get a good 2 good fighters in boxing to fight each other. So at the minute I would say UFC.

I have respect for both boxers and mixed martial artists (I train in muay thai, boxing and jiu jitsu). If you take the world's best boxer (pac man or mayweather, but thats a whole other debate) do you think they will win in a fight against the best MMA figher (anderson silva)? that would never happen. Silva would kill any boxer. Boxing is fun to watch live though.

I don't think you can compare the two. It's like comparing Apples to Oranges.
