U.S. general: No evidence Iran is arming Iraqis

A top U.S. general said Tuesday there was no evidence the Iranian government was supplying Iraqi insurgents with highly lethal roadside bombs, apparently contradicting claims by other U.S. military and administration officials.

Gen. Peter Pace, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said U.S. forces hunting down militant networks that produced roadside bombs had arrested Iranians and that some of the material used in the devices were made in Iran.

“That does not translate that the Iranian government per se, for sure, is directly involved in doing this,” Pace told reporters in the Indonesian capital, Jakarta. “What it does say is that things made in Iran are being used in Iraq to kill coalition soldiers.”

It is interesting when even US generals start to speak against this administration lies.

I read that in the paper today too. I guess there is also no evidence that they are not doing it either ;)

    Gtech;

Who knows more about this subject, some one like you, a retired Corporal who served in the high schools or a General who is the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff?

I didn't write the article gworld. Nor did you ;)

I figured you would be smart enough to see differences, such as:

compared to sniper rifles, but I continuously overestimate your intellectual capability.

So, what do you think about your buds supplying sniper rifles to your other buds in Iraq?

Don't you think if there was any proof he would have mention it?

If you look at the article, it says:

"The find is the latest in a series of discoveries that indicate that Tehran is providing support to Iraq's Shia insurgents."

But isn't Shia insurgents the same as Iraq government? Isn't Iraq prime minister supported by the same groups?

Your kidding me, right? Please tell me you aren't trying to use a video of Rumsfeld, as a private citizen sent by Reagan in the 80s to Iraq to improve relations, as evidence that "we" (can I get a self-loathe here?) armed just about every country.

You don't want to go down this road. I'll give you the choice ;)

What about those sniper rifles, gworld? Are you happy that your buds imported armor piercing sniper rifles and shipped them over to your buds to kill some US soldiers?

Do you see the difference between "roadside bomb" and "sniper rifle?" Do you see the difference between Iran is involved and we have evidence, but not "per se" sure the government is aware?

Not looking good gworld. Those sniper rifles seem to have backfired on the thread to make your buds look like victims.

It seems the government doesn't care about terrorists when it comes to earning a dollar or pleasing National Rifle Association.

the point i am trying to make is we have to be very careful of the evidence that we present to make sure our actions are warranted.

We can see how sad you are. Surprisingly, an admendment by a democrat at that. Fortunately, shot down (pun intended).

You're batting 0 today, gworld. Try as you may, to portray the US in the worst possible light, it's just not working out so far. I'm sure you can come up with something that screams "boo America!" Maybe some "homeless stats?" ;)

What does this mean? Are you happy the .50 caliber sniper rifles can be freely exported?
If you are against such ban then what is your problem with Austria selling it to Iran? Is it the facts that they bought in Europe and not from the friends of this administration in USA?

This isn't about "our" troops, it's about gworld giving aid and comfort to his buds by attempting to portray something a general didn't say or cover. It's about Iran, in fact, being involved where they shouldn't and it's about high powered weapons that 45 days ago were being shipped to Iran (despite "our" and others objections) that ended up being captured.

How do high powered sniper rifles shipped to Iran, 45 days later end up in enemy (I should specifically mention terrorists in Iraq here, because not everyone's "enemy" here is the same ;) ) hands in Iraq? Anyone have a guess?

And facts always matter. Not everything is America's fault.
