http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/wor...ck-Obama-decides-send-troops-Afghanistan.html Ploy or necessary? At least if it passes it won't affect lower paid people too much, but even that little is enough in this climate imo.
I'll say necessary, in my opinion, a war tax should have been implemented a long time ago. It doesn't seem as though income tax is enough to cover war, which may be partly the reason why we're in so much debt.
I tend to agree with you Rebecca. I think it is necessary but only if it is spent on the war esp for equipment for the troops to be sent over there, and if it helped protect the economy. (not that it'll matter that much being trillions in debt) I'm certain however nothing like this would pass in the UK lol
It won't pass here either. Great proposal though, especially coming into the 2010 election cycle. God knows the case can be made that spending another 50 billion dollars we don't have cant be good for the economy. Makes me wonder what he is saying about the 2 trillion dollar health care initiative.
Ahem. Income tax is a war tax. It was made permanent in 1913 with an illegal amendment. It is less than 100 years old. It should be abolished.
Agreed. From what I've read, nobody thinks this will pass. Obey makes a point when he said: Anyway, it will be interesting to see what Obama's new plan is for Afghanistan. I know where you're coming from, but I doubt it will ever be abolished.
~ After 8 years why listen to McChrystal and company. Obama was elected to find something new....the appearance anyway.
That kinda does make sense, if you're gonna kill someone, you should let the person you're robbing know what the money's gonna be used for.
Now what are we still doing in a state of war, what is the purpose of it, besides the cost and the killing of innocent people. I do understand that the country has made some progress over the years, such as schools for children and opportunity for women etc,.. That's very nice, but, there are places around the world that needs the same attentions as the Afgi region, much of the continent of Africa are in some serious need of evaluation too. I say, instead of sending 40,000 troops in that region, let technology in. We have technology that are unmanned and can hover the sky for hours, I say use that and search for the leader and kill the son-of-a-bitches. Off course you kill the leader another will rise and take control, sure that's fine, just do it all over again, do this for a hundred millions of years if that is what it takes. Hire the locals to spy on them and give them arms so that they could defend themselves. Secure an area, if let say, Kabul is being run by the insurgents, then surround the mother fucker and move in slowly until you get a certain section secured, then move in to another location of Kabul and repeat until you free the area from insurgency. I am aware of the fact that when the troops comes in the insurgents tries to blend in with the crowd to look like everyone else, but that's where the spy comes in. Hire foreigners from the fourth world to fight it, there are men somewhere in the world that wont mind getting paid $20 a day when in their country they barely make $1 a day, that is if they even find work. In fact, hiring this guys would even be better suited than the western troops. Western troops are just well armed and heavily suited by a protected gear and have families that they care about at home and want to live. (who doesn't) You would think being well armed and well protected by the gears they wear and being well trained would lead to victory,..How many years has been now? and deaths of 5,000 and thousands of casualties? fuck me. Foreigners are much better suited, though not very well trained like the westerners, but they can be trained like the insurgent to fight like them, you know, "fire with fire) Supply the foreigners with the same outfit as the insurgents: Flip-Flop shoes, rocket propelled grenades, IED, rifles. Just as how the Westerners hire foreiners into their factories, they can hire them to fight the wars, I'm not saying to give them the same benefits and pay, just recruit them and they will come for $20 a day, I'm sure of that. Places like South America, Africa, Asia, East Europe. Another that will do is to recruit non-violent/sex offenders in the war, ask them to volunter for there freedom, so let's say Jamal had rob a convenience store so that he could get some crack, but all he did was handed a note to a register and never did no harm, but got caught and have to serve time in prison for many years and the cost to house the fucker can reach up to $30,000 a year. Why not have this guys have the opportunity to serve and fight for their freedom. We don't need a $30,000,000,000 a month of budget defense just to fight some rag heads that has a war budget of $3,000 a month, come on now, we are in a hard times here, use that money to retrain laid-off workers and invest on kids future, some of the schools and colleges are down grading due to lack of funds, we don't need no more taxes on bullshit causes.
this man (Ron Paul) is talking some sense http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lSPCpmibMNY&feature=player_embedded
~ Someone should hold the military accountable for the present fiasco that is just evolving and where / what the money they have already spent has gotten for us.
The problem is that you actually believe that war is about terrorism, helping Afghans, making a democratic country or other such BS. The war is about land and gas pipelines and for controlling and securing those you need boots on the ground.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trans-Afghanistan_Pipeline http://whatreallyhappened.com/WRHARTICLES/oil.html It seems these guys were very smart and in 1998 knew that 911 would happen and USA will occupy Afghanistan. Now you can put your tail between your legs and run as always when I show that you don't know what you are talking about.
Nice! That was exactly the concrete evidence I was looking for =). It obviously provides the smoking gun which shows the US created the 911 events as a pretext to put in oil and gas pipelines through Afghanistan! At best, you provide motive without any evidence whatsoever. Again, delusional.
Yes, oil companies are as usual just lucky and 911 just happens only months after the talks between USA, oil companies and Talibans breaks down. Source
So now you are saying the US put together 911 in a matter of months. I suppose we paid off Osama to be the fall guy who took responsibility? How do the bombings of the US embassies, or the first WTC bombing years earlier fall into this marvelous conspiracy. Delusional. [Edit] Sorry to act so surprised. I have to remind myself I'm likely talking to a holocaust denier.
Yay! I get to agree with Rebecca on something. I think hiding the price of war is a very very bad thing. If tax payers understood how much war cost, I think they'd be much less likely to support unnecessary wars.
