Does anyone know if google or the advertisers pay more for clicks from traffic from the u.s. or clicks from traffic oustide the u.s.

It depends on the advertisers for that country. If they are paying more then you will get a bigger cut. It depends but mostly i'd assume the US has the biggest amount of advertisers which means more money for you.

I'm guessing less for international traffic, but not simply because it's international... Rather you are going to have less advertisers vying for the end users (AdWords bid pricing doesn't go up as high if there is less competition). Of course depends on the content, but overall, I would guess there are more ads targeting US visitors vs. International.

It's true to a limit, Yeah US advertisers pay alot, but ads depend upon the visitor's region so, its a nice idea to target US visitors for US products/services etc, only if you can handle the competition :(

I have advertised a lot with goggle adwords. And found that if you choose your ad's to be displayed worlwide you end up paying more for the simple reason that you are covering a wider area. But if you target ad's for particular countries then you end up paying less. This is my experience.

Well thats obivious that the guy covering the wider area ends up paying more but, at the same time he is likely to attract more visitors.

As for income, internation clicks pay you more than the local.

Good question! Has anyone tried using geo targeting? Perhaps it would be worth setting up a channel for US visitors and one for the rest.

I have used geo targeting for a computer consulting business that operate. It actually brought in a good amount of interest. When my geo ads were running I would get usually between 1-3 telephone inquiries per day resulting from people finding my site through the adwords ads. I had the ads targeted to my city. So in my opinion geotargeting works very well. I actually had to stop the ads because I was getting to busy. :) But I think it only works in certain niches.

I also run an ongoing campaign for Canadians directing them to my classifieds site as well, but it is not geotargeted but setup for Canada only.
