I took advantage of a common typo that a lot of people do. I will give you an example "Porn" common typo is "Pron" this is not the keyword that was target but you get the idea. With such a common typo you can type this keyword into google and it wont ask you "DID YOU MEAN PORN" Google will just print the results. The typo i have targeted is getting me about 400 unique hits a day through google. For me to have achieved this i had to put the typo in my site title and its paying off now. The question im asking is do you think when users see a typo in your title do you think that they think the site is unprofessional and the webmaster cant even spell right so they going to leave? So do you think this is hurting my site more than helping it? My stats do show that an average user has 10-15 page loads with about 5 minutes of stay time.
Yes, this was a very early blackhat thing to do, but it was for spellings for microsoft, sears, yahoo, etc. Typically these led straight to porn pages with thousands of popups. --wiz
Actually, people often deliberately mistype porn as pron because it gets round work filters. It's difficult to say whether your typo hurts more than helps without knowing what it is - but my instinct says, - yes, it looks unprofessional.
No need to worry about this. Optimizing the misspelt keyword is another seo technique and when the "typo" has a large number of seraches (searches!), you can have a windfall of traffic. Just to make sure your site look professional, include both the correct spelling and the misspelt one side by side like this, for example: serach | search etc...
I dont understand how google works here Look at the image http://img93.imageshack.us/img93/4969/pronja7.jpg The search was Pron Videos and you will notice it highlights both "Porn Videos" and "Pron Videos" Any input on whats going on ?
I used this technique for a site of mine and it works great, it may look unprofessional but if you are holding the visitors at your site i don't see it as a problem
i used this method before, and this is what i found out. 1. having typos on my site annoys the crap out of ME and my visitors 2. having typo's on anchors will work best if you try this method, dont do on site seo with typo's.
Well said... Why not just advertise your site on another adult site? We get 40,000 monthly hits from 1 porn tube site to our adult site for $20 bucks monthly with 1 little banner. I wouldnt do it myself.... especially with only 400 crusty results laterz malcolm
As to whether or not it looks professional (or not), I would bet that it all depends on the clientelle that you are looking for.
Yeah, Miss spelled keywords used to work in the past... Now a days, Google shows the first two results at the top of the SERP's after fixing the miss spelled keywords !!
