    I am from INDIA
I received a cheque of 225$ and its already around 20 days to it
    this is my first cheque
    name printed on cheque is
    hitesh makWani

whereas in my bank account it is
    hitesh makVani

    every where else it is
    hitesh makWani which is correct
I want to change my name in my bank account
I have already given application for it
but 10 days to it there is no response
I am having a saving account with HDFC bank

cheque is valid for 40 days
I don't know what to do
    will they accept my cheque?
    or it will be rejected

I asked hdfc customer service executive he told me that they will accept the cheque but there is no gurantee that it will be cleared

please help me I am really very confused

I can't afford to loose my first cheque

When you applied for the change of name, do you have a copy of that application form ? If you do, submit a copy with the cheque or write the reference number and a short note at the back of the cheque about it when you send it for clearance.

If the cheque is not cleared, it would be returned to you and you can request the payer to send you a new cheque. It is better than waiting for the 40 days to lapse.

NO matter what, you are not going to lose your money.

Apparently the typo in your bank account is your bank's mistake and they should be able to accept your cheque. Incidentally why was the mistake not found at the time of opening the bank account ?

    thanks for your reply
the cheque reissuance charges must be very high
the bank mistake is because some of my proofs are having this typo
so they told me that they can't change
whereas all other banks accepted my correct spelling even with wrong spell in documents
and I dnt have any copy of application and no refrence no.:(
the bank executive says that he will write a note and send it with the cheque
but it is not in there hands that the us bank can reject the cheque and they won't be able to do anything to it

As your proofs of docs already have this typo, you better open a new bank account with hitesh makWani & submit your check there! ;)

tHEY SHould ideally accept your cheque they do have international branches too, otherwise you can open a new account, which takes 48hrs these days and deposit the cheque there.
    Go for ICICI
