Typical CTR on a Tech Site

What CTR can you expect to get on a tech site? I know tech people are less likely to click on ads. I am just trying to figure out what CTR % I should be around?

Your help is always appreciated!

 

I think "tech sites" is too broad a category to get any idea of what CTR to expect. if you have a webmaster forum (like DP), you will get a terrible CTR. IF you have a consumer oriented sire about gadget reviews, your CTR would be much higher.

 

yes, its more a consumer oriented site, that does reviews for a certain technology niche

 

Generally, you can expect to see lower CTR on tech sites than many other types of sites even if the ads are extremely relevant. The tech sitesvisitors are genrally more computer "savy".

 

I get a 2.5% CTR on a Dutch technical site (Dutch visitors aren't as used to adsense yet, so the CTR is still relatively high) and a 1.6% CTR on a technical site for less technical people. Just to give you some idea. CTR is also dependent on other factors, like design, are the ads optimized etc.

 

So i'm about similiar to your ctr - usually between 1-3%.

 

good blending and relevant ads can give you upto 5-10% but usually i get <3.5%

 

For me these CTR rates are below what I am used to elsewhere on my site. The English site has exactly the same design as the rest of my site (non technical) and gets a way lower CTR. So I can confirm that a technical site does get a lower CTR.

 

5% CTR you can expect if site is well constructed and content must be interesting.
