i've been reading about typed-in traffic, and i have a question about how it actually works, or should i say, doesn't work. i have a domain name registered for a particular part number of mine (i.e. bluewidget.com). when i type in "bluewidget.com" in the address bar, it goes directly to my parked domain. however, if i just type in "bluewidget" in the address bar, then i'm redirected to a major competitor's website. can anyone tell me why this is so?

    thanks

Its the way your internet browser is setup. Which browser are you using?
Most of the time if you type in a keyword into the address bar without the .com on the end it will take you to a search engine with search results. My internet explorer and firefox are both setup this way. I dont recall setting them up like this so I am not sure how most browsers are setup by default.

Your browser is probably setup to take you to the first search result automatically.
