Type-in traffic versus bookmarking

I am a newbie to DP. Sorry, if this question has been answered a million times before.
Suppose all the easily remembered domain names on your desired topic have been snatched by others and you got away with a left-over not-so-easily-recalled domain name that you want to make the best off. Will putting a “bookmark this site” / ”add to your favourites” button on every page get you the eagerly wanted traffic? And is this as efficient as "direct navigation web traffic"?

Um... apples and oranges I think. Direct Navigation generally refers to users directly going to your website (through address bar... typing in your domain) while bookmarking means they are already there and you are trying to build repeat traffic.
