This post is about exposing two very popular webmaster myths as basically false... ...and helping people know about good, safe options for domain registration. ~~~~ ~~~~ This post is not about: Hosting Non-standard Cpanels What happens when you do not follow the 'simple' rules & properly cancel your hosting account (then you get charged again, by 1and1, unexpectedly) ~~~~ ~~~~ This post is intended to be about: Very easily being able to transfer domains away from both Netfirms (.coms for just $4.99, up to 5 per person) also... Some (many?) webmasters claim 1and1 is "bad for domain owners"... They have $5.99 .coms & I transfered several with no problem, no faxed forms, or any hassles at all. Also .TV big savings (Godaddy is now up to $44, 1and1 is just $29) Still need to know, please: Does Netfirms allow 'free pushes' to other in-house accounts? Does 1and1 allow 'free pushes' to other in-house accounts? I'll check myself, but honestly their customer service takes 1 to 2 days to answer (1and1 much worse than Netfirms in this area). /Warning: iPower.com will actually bill your credit card for domains transferred away many months ago. You need to also terminate the 'domain account', or they bill you (even for domains sitting with Godaddy) Their fine print is... ...well read it yourself. If I had I'd never, ever had dealt with them. //The iPower.com lady on the phone actually compared it to "not cancelling your cable .TV bill; "They still will expect you to pay"
