    Hi all ,

I am currently working on a web-site which is having two link, one local(.co.) and the other international(.com). i am working with the same KWs on both of them. but i was amazed to find that though the .co. one is having a high ranking/positon (almost 4th, 8th and 9th with different KWs) the .com one is not to be seen anywhere !!!!!!!

    Can anyone explain: ????????

    Regards

My guess would be duplicate content. Most that have two domain names used for same site redirect (301) one to the other.

Whilst I don't disagree smyrl, I have seen an example where a .co.uk and .com - same content, different meta tags and title, no redirect 301 and both domains ranking well for different keywords.

its not redirected but mapped to the same server. everything is same bt i am unable to frame out why the .com is nt in the rankings whereas the .co.xx had good rankings.

Though I dont knw how much secure it would be to provide domain names here, i can explain it a bit,

there are 2 domains by name www.xyz.co.xx and www.abc.com which are mapped to the same pages, means no redirecting used. the KWs are the same for both the sites. but the ranking are achieved for www.xyz.co.xx only though despite the fact tht its a local site(.co.xx). the site www.abc.com is nowhere to be see!!!!!!!!!!

If you own all extensions of a site you will have no problem with a “Dup” penalty.

However, Google will choose only one of the Domain ext.

    Example: If you owned - .Com /. Net / .Biz / .Org / Name-Name.com,
Google will filter out all but one extension. It will be the one with the most back links, content, age, and relevance.

Yahoo's filters are behind on this, and you will see many extensions of the same Domain in SERP placement.

I have many sites with all extensions pointing to the same Domain and have never received a penalty.

Example: I prefer the use of .Org on 2 of my sites. However, if someone types in .Com they will still land on my index page.
