Two totally basic Google Sitemaps related questions

As first, I am curious: can I delete this "<meta name="verify-v1" content="some_random_string=" />" tag that I needed to add for the purpose of Google Sitemaps after all the sites that I've put there are verified, or is it meant to be placed into the "index.html" page's header permanently/forever ??

Secondly, I am interested about this "sitemap.xml" file that I should also create and upload into the hosts' root directories. I know a bit of XML (hell, my sites are even a valid XHTML 1.0), however, I really don't know what exactly should I put in it. Maybe like some sort of "tree" or "map" of all my site's pages ?? But what syntax should I use, should I define the XML tags by myself (I am not so experienced in this though) ?? /EDIT: Oh well, please ignore this question; Google's help surely answers it enough thoroughly even for me, lol ...

/NOTE: I am a total newbie in regards to this service/feature, so please spare with me !!

    thanks, tayiper

Did you code your site yourself? If you are using an open source script many of them have mods or add ons for this.

Yeah, I surely did, in fact the entire site's design is my idea; although I am of course not saying that it's something special ...

You could consider using a sitemap generator.
At least for starting out your sitemap.xml file.
