Two sites vanish from Google

Ok guys I need some sound advice here. two recent sites for my clients have vanished totally from Google rankings, the first one is a brand new site that ranked a little while and has now vanished. it is currently soaking in all the back links I gave it (over 500) and is ranking well on Bing, So I assume that one is just a waiting game. ALTHOUGH I have done this same process maybe 10 times before and have never had a site take so long to EXIST in the Google rankings. I would appreciate some clarification.

The second one is a little more interesting. It has been around for 4 or 5 months and has been ranking strong, then 'poof' these are not bad rankings they are NO rankings.

I read on the mans blog that a recent change happend because of fast loading sites, thats not it.
is it possible that I have been using the same backlinks too much (other sites and blogs i run) and if so why does it only affect a few of the sites..

    help

have you checked webmaster tools to see if there is anything there? Maybe bad back links got them penalized? best bet is check webmaster tools

Oh yeah I forgot to mention that I did check it for both of them. Unless Im missing something obvious on there ( i checked all around) then no, everything is in order except for broken link or two.

to clarify, to the mod, I did intend this be in the Google category as the thrust of this question is about possible Google rule changes or existing ones.

I have had a similiar problem. 5 year old site. That has been page one for a particular keyword will not even rank for its name. I have not updated it in 5 months but that shouldn't cause it to get sandboxed should it? Any advice would be great. The site is. rushdesigngroup.com
