Simple way to get more money from Adsense is to get more people to click on your ads and the chances of people clicking on them would improve greatly if they are related to your site.

Getting people to click on blogger templates ads or Vacation trip ads are much less than something related to health, on a health related site.

Ok now many of you are already using techniques like putting the main keyword in page name, title and H1 tags but still getting irrelevant ads.

That where the the first simple technique comes that can help you

    Adsense Section Targeting

Ok the first technique may be used by some of you but other technique is a good one and much under utilized

I few weeks back my adsense income from blogs dropped to almost nill after investigating i found the cause, all my blogs were taken over by scientology.org ads

All the methods failed to take care of them so i have to use something else to take care of them. Here Competitive Ad Filter came handy. Besides filtering competitive sites it can also be used to filter totally irrelevant sites, which i wanted to do.

So all that i had to do was to add the following sites in my competitive filter list. After two hours my sites were free from Scientology ads
    youtube.com/ChurchOfScientology
    scientology.org
    Code (markup):

IMO not many people use the competitive ad filter. It can remove those totally irrelevant ads from your site/blog which can increase your adsense earnings.

Now dont start clicking on your own ads to know the url of these sites :D
Information on how to use Competitive Ad Filter

Hope these tips would help you improve your adsense earnings. :)

Edit: i think i would be helpful to all if we share our blocked sites list.

    Thank you for this information!

But I 'm not sure if Competitive Ad Filter should be used to remove "ugly" ads. Somebody might click them and bring some money.

Competitive ads filter has its limitation on the number of urls you can add in to the list. I would still think section targeting is much better option to use in terms of going for ads relevancy.

Competitive ad filters are used to drive away the display of low paying, irrelevant, crap and MFA ads and not the "ugly" ads. I don't know what do you mean by ugly ads?

Well i never used the word ugly.

dairyman has nicely explained what i was trying to convey

And yes there is a limit on the number of sites you can add to competitive filter so first use Adsense Section targeting and use Competitive Filter as a last resort to deal with low paying, irrelevant, crap and MFA ads.

It won't work well if the content on your home pages changes often. Anyways section targeting is probably the single best tip anyone can take considering increase-in-profits per time-spent-to-implement.

I am using it on my blogs main page and it has worked here.

Well i think it has more to do with the numbers of topics on your home page instead of the frequency of updates.

I update my blogs often and the ads the relevant there ( this may be due to the fact that all the post have a similar main theme );)

Agree with above. Regularly changing the content on your blog will not affect the adsense ads as long as your content is on the same topic using the same keywords with no variation in your page title
