Hi, I have 2 websites hosted on one hosting account (hostgator). Has it some influence on my position in se? Moreover, this two websites have the same wordpress layout. Articles are quite different and unique but after creating the second one I noticed getting lower with the first one. Is there any connection or just bad fortune? Or maybe you know some online tools to check if websites are seen as not unique? I'll be grateful for help, All the best
The reason is that your new website is New and your old website is old. Google gives preference to old websites as compared to new websites. This could be one of the reason why you are not getting same level of rankings as compared to your older domain.
Hosting has very minor importance in ranking factor., and template is also not a important factor in SERP's. The only problem might be with the articles / content posted in your website and other factors.,. But if you provide your websites addresses, so that we can give some more insights on it..,
The search bots mainly look at the content on the page. Many sites have the same template that wouldn't be an issue.
If the articles and content are unique/different, I don't see why it should be an issue. Layout definitely isn't a factor. Have to think it is just bad luck with the first one; maybe you are putting less time into it? Competitor's putting more time into it? Hard to say without having the data in front of me. But ultimately I don't think hosting on the same hosting package is your issue..
