Hi all, My two best websites for traffic, quality of the content and just the overall look have been reduced to a PR0 and stuck there for about a year, maybe more now. They are both fairly established sites (3+ years maybe) and the really strange thing is that they both rank at number one for their trageted search terms and, as a result get pretty good traffic numbers. They are: http://www.stuckinlondon.com http://www.workingholidayinfo.com I am stumped about why they have been reduced to a PR0 in the first place and even more stumped as to how I get them off of it. Other sites of mine that I have sold links on still have PR and they are far worse offenders. Any ideas would be great! Is there some contect email for Google where you can raise your PR issues? PR doesn't matter to me much but I am curious about why the sites are ranking well but not seeing any PR love. Thanks for any help! Kirsty
Normally, when you've a website with PR rested back to 0 and your SERP's remained almost the same then the answer is quite simple This website have just been reported for selling text links, and your only way to recover your toolbar PR is by getting rid of those paid links and then you can Request a Reconsideration via the Google Webmasters Tools. Hope i was clear and helpful.
Yep that's helpful, thanks a lot! Can you or someone else be a bit more specific about how to contect them through Webmaster Tools?
DO not find much BL for those sites... only aorunf 5 distinct IP.. The key factor for PR is quality BL
Yes, I feel your pain, I have some sites that are stuck at 0 as well, but I think the only solution is to make sure your content is good and relevant and then build more quality backlinks.
Yes, those two site are probably penalized for selling Text Links, which are against Google Webmaster Policies. You need to remove them and keep on building backlinks.
i think you need to make few major changes related to search engine optimization of your website..Then your website might get ranked
You can find more information about sire reconsideration here: google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?answer=35843&hl=en
Couple of things you can do... Spend $100 to buy a couple of high PR links - PR5 or higher. Google does not like it if you have more outbound links than you have inbound links - this may be the case for you. All I can really say is build more links. Personally I don't think you should be too worried about the selling of links. Unless you specifically advertise selling links for PR purposes you'll be okay - it's more about the inbound/outbound relationship. You should also get Privacy Policy and a Contact link in your footer. Although it won't necessarily help with PR it will certainly add some more "authenticity" to your site.
Um... I was just emailed about this site being an infraction on DP... anyone have any idea why so I don't make the same mistake again? Thanks, Kirsty
fair enough, you get penalised to selling text links - can you get penalised for buying them? a client of mine is paying to be linked from all sorts of directories and portal sites...
I don't think so or else everyone would be buying links for the competitors to get them penalized. What Google would do is links from those sites that sell links worthless in terms of ranking in the SERPs; but first they must find out that the site sells links.
