Two outlinks with same anchor from same page

I was looking to get a backlink from a particular site to increase my ranking for a specific keyword. But I noticed that there's already an outgoing link from that site to a third site with the same anchor that I would like to get.

Since I don't want to use a similar keyword is it still worth it to get a link from that site? Will Google give my link as much strength as if the other link had another anchor?

    Thanks!

I think only the topmost or first link pointing outward is the one that counts

It is commonly believed that only first link with 'same' anchor text is counted. There is a some text about this from Google as well. But this still remains debatable.

From my understanding it is better to stick with only one link per site I don't think a website can give you juice for each link of course I could be wrong.

A lot of directories don't allow more than 1 site with the same Anchor text in the same category.. perhaps it's for this reason??

It shouldn't be a problem. You should still get credit for the backlink.

Negotiate with the site owner to put your link further up than the other one :)

There seems to be a pretty good mixed opinion on this...so let me give mine ;)

    Why take the chance?

It's been shown that a slight variance in your anchor text CAN be a good thing by broadening your SERP. When it comes down to a page/link that already uses your preferred anchor text, then why not mix it up a bit? The worst that can really happen is that you'll just increase your SERP for another related word ;)

(I rated this thread four stars because I do not think I've seen this question asked before here...)
