Two New Browsers: Secure or Not?

Discussion in 'Reviews' started by atsad, Aug 11, 2015.

I just got 2 new browser developed by Comodo Dragon.
1st one is "Comodo IceDragon" Browser based on Firefox source code.
2nd one is "Chromodo" Chromium based browser.

Till now the browsers seem good, working smoothly, but NO plugins/extensions are installed.

Did you ever use those browsers?
Can I think these browsers are secure enough?

    Please share your experiences......

The OP asked about Comodo IceDragon and Chromodo. Yet you are asking your own question about a completely different browser.
It's called thread hijacking and people don't appreciate it when you completely ignore their own questions and ask your own!
Have a bit of common sense man.

@ OP I've not used them but there are a hundred new browsers every month. Probably best to stick to the ones you know as there is no real purpose to use another browser unless they have a feature that the current market dominating browsers don't have.

Well, Comodo claims to use more "secure settings", provides an in-browser malware-scanner and an optional "secure DNS"-servercluster (how exactly a "secure DNS" server works, god knows) - I haven't tried the latest offerings by Comodo, but I tested some earlier versions, and they seem perfectly fine, and a good alternative to Firefox or Chrome - the question is are they able to keep the updates as frequent as the regular browsers - if not, the fact that they might fall behind mostly negates any security-benefits you could almost just as easily get with standard Firefox and/or Chrome, with a few plugins installed.

Safari on Windows is outdated - it hasn't been updated since... 2012? Something like that, and is abandonware. It is severly lacking in functionality, and cannot be used to test how webpages react in Safari, simply because the current Mac-versions are way ahead of the one available for Windows. Hence, using Safari in Windows is completely pointless.
