On the basis of new web designing trends, I have realized that every professional web design firm has grouped them into two major kinds of design and 5 styles.
The two kinds of website design are:

    1. Self-Aware
    2. Trompe L’oeil.

A Self-Aware website is exactly what it sounds like. The design of the site distinctly conveys that one is expecting at a website. It clearly defines the objective of website and not messy like newspaper page.

And Trompe L’oeil website design literally means “to trick the eye”. The term Trompe L’oeil means in renaissance painting. In history it was used to create the illusion of 3D images on flat canvas. Often this technique was applied by the wealthy people to make it appear that their house had more things in it.

A Trompe L’oeil website design is one that in which the website lead its viewers to interact with a fictitious interface. This can be as striking as a site that puts the user in the compartment of a plane, or as subtle as a site that acts like a printed magazine. In short, the user interface of the Trompe L’oeil website design is fictitious through which the user enters and interacts with the site. The sort of website decides the flavor of the style. Under each of these 2 kinds of sites are 5 distinct style types are:

    1. Folk
    2. Retro
    3. Sci-Fi
    4. Minimalist
    5. Present

Pay a visit to thefwa.com and try to verify your idea.

I think you're wrong, but if you take 500 websites and divide them into your 5 types - I'd concur.
