Two Link Building Tips:

Here are two less common forms of building backlinks but they work like a charm:

    1. Make Google alerts for keywords that match your site keywords. When you get the alerts, post on those blogs with useful info and make sure to leave a link back to your site. This will leave you with many one way links from key word and like content websites hand picked by Google.

    2. Go to yahoo answers, look up keywords for your site. Answer peoples questions thoughtfully and offer useful answers, link back to your site as a resource.

You can still link your site there. It just won't be a live link.

I find much of the yahoo traffic not worthy of being a member of my site and am often glad they have found a little niche there rather then on my forum...

But I do think that Yahoo can be a GRAND way to promote a non-community site.

The blog alerts I have yet to try, but may soon (as, heh, I already have many of the alerts set up).

    http://www.google.com/alerts
Some handy uses of Google Alerts include:

    * monitoring a developing news story
    * keeping current on a competitor or industry
    * getting the latest on a celebrity or event
    * keeping tabs on your favorite sports teams

Set up a keyword or phrase and google will email you when it finds something new!

Well then, I guess that would really depend on the blog. Many personal blogs do not use the nofollow attribute and likely won't use it unless too many people begin using this technique for SPAM rather then actually answering questions or being helpful by other means.

Besides, if the blog is popular it will result in decent and relevant traffic, which does follow a nofollow tag (and is likely better then a bot or a touch of PR).

Well, most people use Wordpress or blogger for blogging, both have nofolllow enabled by default.

Yes, for traffic it can be a good method. I agree.

That's not what John Guanzon is suggesting.

He is saying using Google Alerts will automagically let you know where someone is talking about "left handed blue widgets", and in turn you can follow up with a small contribution to the topic on that site, and link back to your site with the detailed content.

nofollow is not used by all SEs, and Y! doesn't take it in consideration. MSN and Google does.

they are useless for PR, but they are still links that can bring traffic, also only Google uses the no follow attribute, there are other worthy search engines that can bring you traffic, i.e. Yahoo, that will count a no follow link towards page strength.

excellent ways to get traffic, depending on your site. I a couple different niche teen related sites and Y! answers works like a charm to bring loads of traffic in. Then I get them to sign up for my newsletter so they keep coming back. Just my two cents. Also wasnt aware of the G alerts, thanks for the useful tip.
