I have pretty modest number of visitors but i noticed a slight improvement in CTR when i went from skyscrapers to rectangles only. Now im thinking that this way is too aggressive. I wouldn't want my visitors to be annoyed by ads (more than necessary ) what do you guys think? My site is in my profile, but as an example you can look at this specific page : http://belgrade.cc/articles_about_belgrade.htm thanks!
We all make sites for money dont we??? If I was in your place I would match the ads fonts with my site...Earning few $$ is always better than losing a few visitors....anyways Google wont pay you for repeated clicks from a particular user or IP!!!
I would experiment with channels and see what is working for you. One of the problems you can have is that google shows the highest paying ads by default, and the more ads, the more likely a lower pay ad will be run... of course this can also be offset by conversion. What works on one site might not work on another - even if duplicated exactly. I have 50 sites and no two work exactly the same. There are general rules that I use, but it takes a while to fine tune everything. Just make sure you give each change enough time to give you good statistics. Even on pages with hundreds of clicks a day, you can get pretty extreme fluctuations from one day to the next.
you could try with two 468x60 banners instead of the rectangle; also, blend`em in some more, make the url 000099, and the text and link 000000
Thanks for the replies and tips! I will try gordons advice with the banner and blending in ads little more @vurdlak - rectangle definitely brings more $$ than skyscraper in my case, i don't know about blogs or forums mjewel, i will try channels, it seemed as a long process to me, because i have to make separate channel for each page, but i guess it's the only way. will let you know if changes did something thanks again
