Two languages: two sites?

I have a substantial Spanish-language section, and I was wondering whether it would be better to split it off into another domain rather than just keeping it in a folder. How smart IS google at indexing and at AdSense targeting?

You don't have a domain for every language, it is enough to have a site for particular language.

adsense can understand that your content .

i also suggest you to use section targeting for your all web pages

AdSense did tell me to use a different domain - I wasn't expecting an answer, but I got one. Switching to a new domain immediately improved the accuracy of the results, which surprised me, because I thought Google was smarter than that! When you say "section targeting" do you mean the thing where you put in tags that say "this is important, rather than this"?

I would go with using a subdomain if that was an option...

Subdomain would have worked but presented no real advantage over using a domain I had anyway (.org instead of .com) ... still required a separate folder and user etc the way my system is set up. Good idea - it was my first choice too.

You will get targeted ads for sure irrespective of whether its a subdomain or another section of thesame site.

I have indeed been getting nicely targeted ads now that it's not just in a folder. However - eCPM is pretty low, about 1/4 of the same site in English. Is it simply a smaller, less competitive market? CTR is only a little lower. Are there better alternatives to AdSense for Spanish language sites?
